You are four years old.
One day you say Mom, you look good no matter how you look.
I melt a little and I think you can’t ever say anything sweeter than that.
And then a couple weeks later you say Mom, your hair looks crazy and well I guess you didn’t mean that sweet thing you said.
But just tonight as I am watching you I realize when you said I look good no matter how I look you didn’t mean I am beautiful and when you said my hair looked crazy it was just a statement of fact.
And you know it makes sense because your hair looks crazy 99 percent of the time and I think you look good—you are good—no matter how you look.
And so am I.
